I refashioned a girls denim skirt and cut it in half, hemmed it and added a cute sash with recycled tablecloth material. The belt around the top of the skirt has a frayed edge of recycled jeans, to make it a little rock n roll. It turned out funky and great for any modern girl/woman!



9 October, 2008 - Here is another kids apron I created. The body of the apron is some un-used curtains, and the straps and neck straps are from recycled materials napkins. I did use new bias tape though and some rick-rack.

It is the cutest old fashioned material with little cowgirls on it. It was the first time I had used bias tape, and I love the effect and neat edge it gives the apron. It actually fits my 2 year old quite well too!

I've decided to just make it as I go and follow my inspiration. I have used two pairs of pants to create a jacket, and I have posted a picture of it as it is now, and will update as I add more to it. It is evolving, like all of my handmade creations. The green tie around the waist isn't sewn on at this stage, I am still deciding on the bottom half of the design. I would love to hear any comments.



20/06/08 - Have been thinking of an idea for you all out there that may want a bag or jacket out of some jeans, pants that no longer fit but you still love. If you send them to me with an agreed payment and an idea of what you like, I can refashion and recycle your clothing into something you can use. If you are interested, email me at info@yourmantras.com and we can work from there! Progress on the jacket is moving along, it's looking better. I will add another picture shortly.

23/06/08 - Ok, below is the jacket as it is now, I am much happier with it, and it is a lot more flattering now. I have really tailored it to fit me now. I have brought the jacket in more at the waist and added the green paneling down the middle. I have pinned in the belt to sew on and pinned the hem to redo as I wasnt happy with it. Very close to finishing it now! Once I have perfected this jacket I will use it as a template for more jackets and waistcoats.
